Established in 1972 as a
purveyor of fine European Pastry, cookies, party
cakes, wedding cakes, and specialty cakes is now
entering the mail order business through our web
site. Today, Continental Pastry Inc. is involved in
many areas of the food service industry. Some of
which are: Hotels, Country Clubs, Restaurants,
Catering Halls, Food Distributors, and some of the
superior airlines, such as, Lufthansa, British
Airways, ANA Airlines, and the Concord.
It was in 1972 that Horst Fierek opened Continental
Pastry Inc. on Grand Avenue in Maspeth, New York in
hopes of selling his European style of pastries,
cookies, and cakes. With the help and energy of his
wife Margrit and their three sons; Mark, Glenn, and
Dean, it took the better part of twelve weeks, at
times working 18 hour days to turn what was once a
factory into an thriving pastry shop.
After setting up the pastry shop, Horst's next
concern was to bring in the clientele needed to make
the business successful. He contacted Hotels and
Country Clubs hoping that they would purchase his
high quality European pastry in quantity, at a
wholesale level. He found several prominent Hotels
and Country Clubs willing to purchase his products.
Margrit on the other hand was left in charge of the
retail aspect of the pastry shop. And due to her
warm and friendly nature, the retail store thrived
as a place to pick up tasty desserts. The boys also
chipped in doing everything from mixing and
finishing to making deliveries and folding boxes.
Needless to say, everyone did what they could in
order to help the family business succeed.
Twenty-five years later, Horst and Margrit's sons
Mark and Dean are continuing the family traditions
of presenting the finest quality European pastry to
wholesale customers ( Hotels, Country Clubs and
Airlines) as well as the retail customers.
In an effort to bring their products to a larger
audience, Mark and Dean have decided to open a mail
order business through the Internet and allow people
all over the world to enjoy their products.
